The Department of Public Policy and Public Affairs in the John W. McCormack Graduate School of Policy and Global Studies at the University of Massachusetts Boston invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor to join our faculty beginning September 1, 2023. 

Applicants must have earned a doctoral degree in one of the following fields: public administration, public policy, political science or any other relevant social science program. Candidates should have strong research skills that enable them to contribute to the methods and/or statistics training core curriculum. Areas of specialization include a program of research primarily situated in public administration that focuses on budgeting, finance, leadership, human resource management, performance management, and/or science and technology. The Department welcomes experts in both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Priority will be given to candidates with expertise in racial disparities, gender inequality and intersectional approaches to inequities, as well as health care and/or climate change risks. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to UMass Boston’s anti-racist and health promotion mission. All candidates should have an emerging or established program of research with evidence of external funding or the potential for generating external funding.

Candidates should be prepared to teach in the nationally ranked Master’s of Public Administration program and in the well-established Ph.D. in public policy program. Experience in designing diverse course syllabi, teaching diverse groups of students and in creating a pedagogical environment that addresses systematic issues of racial disparity, gender inequality, and intersectional inequities, among others, are desirable.
