The Applied Linguistics Department at the University of Massachusetts Boston (https://www.umb.edu/umasslinguistics) invites applications for a part-time, benefitted Non-Tenure Track Lecturer position (0.5 FTE) starting September, 2023. The Lecturer will teach two courses per semester. Contract renewal is based on funding and teaching performance.
Required Qualifications:
- A doctoral degree (or candidacy for a doctoral degree) in Applied Linguistics, TESOL, Curriculum and Instruction, or similar field.
- a minimum of five years of experience teaching ESL/ESOL/SEI;
- a minimum of two years of graduate teaching experience;
- documented good teaching;
- an ability to combine theory and practice in classroom instruction;
- experience working in K- 12 ELL instruction and/or teacher education for K- 12 ELL instructors;
- experience providing professional development to in-service teachers;
Desired Qualifications:
- A documented record of excellence in classroom and/or online instruction
- Demonstrated success working with diverse student and/or faculty populations
- Experience with professional development Grants
