General Summary:
The Assistant Community Director for New Student Transition plays an important role in creating an environment and experience that contributes to the academic and personal success of incoming and residential students. The Assistant Community Director for New Student Transition direct supervision from the Assistant Director of Residential Life and Director of New Student and Family Programs.
The incumbent will work 18.75 hours per week (often outside of traditional business hours) to assist in the implementation of a residential program focused on individual contact and a culture of care. Additionally, the Assistant Community Director for New Student Transition supports the transition of first-year students and their families/supporters to UMass Boston. The Assistant Community Director for New Student Transition must possess the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a diverse population of students, staff and faculty

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling or a closely related field, is required. Minimum of 1 year full-time work experience an higher education is required. Work experience in housing and/or new student programs or related field is strongly preferred. A demonstrated record of success in student services is preferred. This position requires evening, weekend and holiday hours, as well as availability outside of regularly scheduled hours for emergencies. Availability to serve in the on-call rotation for Housing and Residential Life staff is required. Availability to serve as an emergency responder and perform assigned tasks, as deemed necessary by the Associate Dean/Director.

This is an exempt union position. This is a part-time, temporary position with a current end date of June 30, 2027, subject to renewal contingent on funding and university needs.
