General Summary: 

The Senior Associate Director of Student Employment Services provides strategic leadership and oversight for the institution’s student employment programs, including federal, institutional, and community-based employment opportunities. The Sr. Associate Director ensures compliance with federal and institutional policies, supports student success through meaningful work experiences, and collaborates with campus departments to expand employment opportunities for students. This leader will establish relationships with internal and external partners to provide students with meaningful work opportunities and look for opportunities to grow and continuously improve the student employment program.

 

 

Examples of Duties: 

• Lead and manage all aspects of the institution’s student employment programs, including Federal Work-Study and institutional employment programs; Including but not limited to, coordinating the employment process, review job descriptions for student positions and assign grade levels; completing hiring forms, administering the payroll and timesheet processes and manage off-campus agency billing.

• Develop policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance with federal regulations and institutional guidelines.

• Partner with campus departments to create and maintain meaningful on-campus job opportunities for students.

• Develop and maintain proactive relationships with local employers, non-profit groups, city government and community groups in order to create and maintain meaningful off-campus/community service opportunities for students.

• Ensure students and off campus supervisors maintain compliance with federal and institutional regulations.

• Coordinate advertising and promotion of student employment opportunities to new and current students, including planning and managing logistics for employment opportunity fairs, serving as lead liaison with event participants, and collaborating with marketing to develop and produce promotional materials.

• Expand the utilization of Slate CRM to help advance student employment communication, track hiring opportunities, manage job applications and build reporting features.

• Track and analyze employment data and program outcomes to improve services and student success.

• Supervise and mentor student employment staff.

• In coordination with the Student Employment Manager, manage student employment budgets, allocations, and reporting.

• Maintain student employment systems and platforms for job postings, hiring, and payroll coordination.

• Develop training and resources for supervisors of student employees.

• Collaborate with Career Services, Marketing, HR, and Payroll offices.

• Represent Student Employment Services at Enrollment Management and Student Affairs events.

• Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of five years of progressive experience in a financial aid office, preferably having worked with Federal Work Study/Student Employment programs. Proven ability to work with integrated Student Information Systems and Customer Relationship Management tools. Preference for candidates who have experience with PeopleSoft and Slate.

•Demonstrated knowledge and experience working collaboratively with administration, faculty and staff;
•Demonstrated ability to handle difficult situations in a professional manner;

•Ability to hire, lead and support a dedicated team;
•Ability to initiate and nurture collaborative partnerships;
•Ability to manage and prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and oversee major projects from development to implementation;
•Ability to work independently and see tasks through to completion in a timely fashion;
•Ability to act with discretion and maintain confidentiality;
•Ability to think strategically, exploring and helping to facilitate new models and efficiencies for higher education;
•Demonstrated leadership ability;
•Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate successfully with a diverse student bodyand work force;
•Strong organizational and interpersonal skills;
•Strong research, quantitative, analytical and problem solving skills.
