General Summary: 

  • The University Event Photographer captures moments at various university events with the chancellor, functions, student events and more.
  • Engage with event attendees, subjects, and clients to make them feel comfortable and to capture candid, natural expressions, and interactions. Focus on capturing moments and scenes that convey the atmosphere and significance of the event.
  • Capture unposed, spDocument events – the atmosphere, significance, and highlights creating a collection of high-quality images that can be shared by its participants and organizers.

Examples of Duties:

  • Takes photos of guests, speakers, and other event participants. Capture candid moments throughout the event. Set up and maintain lighting and other equipment.
  • Capture a wide range of images, from candid shots to posed group photos. Document key moments, activities, and interactions among participants.
  • Responsible for taking staff and faculty headshots for web and publications.
  • Review, organize, and edit photos after events. Retouch, color correct, and enhance to ensure the final photos meet the client's expectations.
  • Edit and upload photos to DAM or storage
  • Assists University photographer/videographer with creative marketing projects as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 3+ years experience in event specific photography
  • Experience using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.
  • Experience using DAM software.
  • Knowledge of lighting methods (Natural and off-camera flash), photographic processes, and up to date with new technology in the respective field.
  • Strong interpersonal skills

The incumbent may be required to work occasional evenings and/or weekends, and on occasion be on-call during non-business hours.
