The Department of Economics at UMass Boston invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor position with interest in Gender, Race, and/or Poverty, to begin September 1, 2022.

This position will support our growing cohorts of undergraduate majors as well as the Department's M.A. in Applied Economics. We are especially interested in candidates who include heterodox political economy and feminist approaches in their research and teaching.

Qualifications: Evidence of progress towards an excellent scholarly record is necessary. Candidates should have a successful teaching record and the capacity to contribute to undergraduate general education, economics major, and graduate instruction. Evidence of successful teaching with diverse students, including international students, is highly desirable. Candidates must complete the Ph.D. by no later than August 31, 2022.

The review of applications will begin on November 15, 2021. We anticipate preliminary interviews at the ASSA meetings in Boston in January 2022.

Please submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, a sample of completed work (articles and/or book chapters) that have been published or in progress, evidence of teaching effectiveness, and the names and email addresses of three references.  Please include in your letter of application an explanation of how your work would complement the heterodox nature of the Department.

UMass Boston requires all employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and to confirm proof of their vaccination status. Exemptions from the vaccine requirement will be permitted only for qualifying religious or medical reasons.
