General Summary: 

The Project Manager, within the Mauricio Gaston Institute for Latino Community Development and Public Policy, will be responsible for the oversight and monitoring of grant activities related to the Mass Department of Health, BSAS grant-funded project “Understanding the Substance Use/Addiction- Related Needs of BIPOC and other Priority Populations” working in close partnership with the principal Investigators at the Gastón Institute, the Institute for Asian American Studies, and the Trotter Institute. This is a part-time (0.66 FTE or 25 hours/week), benefitted position for one year and its continuation after the first year is contingent on funding.

Examples of Duties: 

Proposal and report preparation:

  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the project in accordance with the submitted proposal to the DPH.
  • Support the writing, revision and submission of final report to funders.

Coordination of Evaluation:

  • Work with program evaluators to collect and analyze programmatic data for the purpose of program evaluation and reporting to funding agencies.
  • Work with Program Directors and evaluators to analyze project outcomes; strategize with directors and advisory committees to propose changes to maximize program effectiveness.

Day-to-day administration and planning of program activities:

  • Arrange logistics for meetings, workshops, seminars and other events and activities for the training and guidance of undergraduate students.
  • Make travel arrangements for visits to sites across the state.
  • Arrange and assist with meetings and events across the different institutes and partners, including community advisory board meetings, related to the project.

Funding agency and University compliance:

  • Collect and archive data and documentation related to the project to ensure compliance with University and State grant requirements.
  • Coordinate and submit Institutional Review Board (IRB) proposals for research approval.

Strategic Planning:

  • Coordinate alongside with the Program Directors short- and long-term strategic planning for the execution of the proposed project, according to specific terms of the project. This includes planning for focus groups recruitment, program development, budget, and evaluation, as well as long-term planning for new program development.
  • Communicate project needs to program directors as related to activities, outcomes, and budget.

Research:

  • Assist with qualitative research, including protocol design, participant outreach, meeting organization and facilitation and communication with community members.
  • Perform qualitative data analysis and draft report of final findings.
  • Conduct research on substance use related topics and audience demographics to inform communication strategies and campaign development.
  • Assist in the creation and editing of substance use-related content for various platforms, ensuring accuracy and quality of information and adherence to internal standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

Required Qualifications:

  • Master in Public Health or any close related discipline.
  • 1-3 years work experience in academic program management
  • Prior experience in grant proposal writing and grant administration.
  • Prior experience with qualitative analysis methods and data management
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work cooperatively and effectively with university faculty, staff, and students.
  • Experience working directly with community-based organizations personnel and community members.
  • High degree of initiative, self-direction, and resourcefulness.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to instruct and guide students in writing projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in standard office software systems, including Microsoft Office and qualitative data analysis software (ex. NVivo).
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional local a travel.
  • Knowledge of public health issues related to substance use disorder is preferred

This is an exempt union position. This is a grant funded position with a current end date of June 30 2028, subject to renewal contingent on funding and university needs.
