General Summary:
UMass Boston Ombuds Services is looking for a graduate employee to support the activities of the office with a focus on undergraduate student outreach and assistance.
Ombuds Services is a confidential resource for any UMass Boston community member experiencing a university-related problem, conflict, or concern. The Ombuds can help individuals think through complex issues, understand their options, and consider next steps. Where appropriate the Ombuds can provide practical assistance toward a resolution. As a confidential, informal, impartial, and independent third party, the Ombuds is unbiased and "off-the-record." Using Ombuds Services is always voluntary and free of charge. Qualifications:
The candidate must be enrolled as a graduate student in a relevant major (Conflict Resolution, Higher Education, Counseling, or similar). Applicants should have strong organizational and interpersonal skills and experience supporting undergraduate students in a higher education setting. Knowledge and aptitude with social media is appreciated.
Application Instructions:
Candidates should provide a resume/CV and cover letter. In the cover letter, applicants should explain why they would like to serve in this role, their qualifications for serving in the role, and their expectations for how this role connects with their current and future career aspirations. Review of applications will begin on 7/15 and will continue until the position is filled.
Salary Range: 25/hr
Hours: 8 hrs per week
This is a non-union position.
