Job Summary

The University of Massachusetts Partnership for Worker Education (PWE) is a joint educational partnership among the University (Office of Human Resources), AFSCME, USA/MTA, and PSU. The Assistant Projects Director is responsible for supporting the Facilities and Campus Services Career Ladder with associated project activities and providing support to other PWE career ladder programming.

 

Essential Functions

  • Serves as the technical support for the Facilities and Campus Services Career Ladder project by engaging project partners, supporting organizational needs assessment, involving project partners in project design and implementation, supporting with project logistics, supporting with project-related monitoring and evaluation activities and reporting, supporting project staff, supporting the development of courses and tailored trainings, teaching courses, evaluating courses, reporting on courses, and supporting the coordination of all reporting documentation.
  • Provides support for other PWE career ladder programming.
  • Collaborates on the development of new proposals on and off campus.
  • Engages with different levels of personnel across staff and administration within Facilities and Campus Services.
  • Participates at PWE staff meetings.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field and more than 3 years of relevant experience or Master's degree and 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Experience with proposal writing, project management, and monitoring and evaluation.
  • Excellent communications skills and experience in public relations, public presentations, writing, and editing.
  • Thorough knowledge and use of participatory processes, teaching methods and philosophy.
  • Excellent teaching skills.
  • Experience with initiatives related to social justice and diversity.
  • Highly organized, able to manage multiple tasks at once, and attentive to detail.
  • Experience taking on leadership roles within a team-based work environment.
  • Experience working with team members of different backgrounds, cultures and languages. 

 

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

Master’s Degree in related field.

 

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

Typical office environment.

 

Work Schedule

  • 25 hours per week, with the possibility of increasing hours.
  • Schedule to be determined.
  • This position has the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule, which is defined by the University as an arrangement where an employee’s work is regularly performed at a location other than the campus workspace for a portion of the week. As this position falls within the Professional Staff Union, it is subject to the terms and conditions of the Professional Staff Union collective bargaining agreement.
