The Department of Counseling, School Psychology and Sport in the College of Education & Human Development at the University of Massachusetts Boston invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track, 9-month faculty position in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin on September 1, 2025.

The Department of Counseling, School Psychology and Sport (CSPS) provides a dynamic environment for faculty and students to engage in nationally recognized research, especially in areas related to equity, systems-level change, LGBTQ+ health and wellness, social justice, and transnational human rights and global perspectives. CSPS houses (a) the ABA Graduate Certificate Program and new ABA Master’s Program to be launched in 2025, (b) two APA Accredited doctoral programs in School Psychology and Counseling Psychology, (c) a NASP-approved master’s/Ed.S. Program in School Psychology, (d) MPCAC-accredited master’s programs in School Counseling and Mental Health Counseling, and (e) a B.A. in Sport Leadership and Administration. The College of Education and Human Development, ranked among the top 5 schools of education in New England and the #1 public school of education in the state of Massachusetts, is guided by our core values of social justice, community engagement and academic excellence.

The candidate will support ABA research and clinical initiatives, contribute to the graduate program in ABA and provide supervision for students working toward earning their certification hours. This faculty member will also contribute to the School Psychology Doctoral Program and the Master’s Program in School Counseling. Therefore, we seek candidates with school-based clinical interest and experience and with research, clinical, and teaching experience, who have a commitment to serving children and communities from minoritized backgrounds. Specifically, we seek applicants whose scholarship targets evidence-based therapeutic approaches, community-engaged research methods, and/or applied research with marginalized communities.

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience working in inclusive settings and serving populations with minoritized youth, who demonstrate an understanding of the impact of advancing our commitment to social justice, racial justice, and health promotion. Preferred applicants will demonstrate teaching and leadership experience, and an interest in collaborative research. We seek an equity-minded scholar who will advance our commitment to social and racial justice as well as community engagement. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, or related field
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral-level Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA-D)
  • Experience providing clinical behavior analytic services
  • Experience in PK-12 school settings
  • Experience mentoring graduate students
  • Strong potential for pursuing and securing extramural research funding
  • Formal academic preparation in behavior analytic and developmental research methodologies
  • Experience teaching courses in human development, behavioral counseling (or other counseling courses), or research methods/statistics.
