Education Outreach Counselor PreCollegiate & Ed Suppt Pgms
The Talent Search Program is a college and career readiness program that identifies and serves disadvantaged young people. Our goal is to encourage them to continue in, graduate from high school, and to enroll in programs of post-secondary education. High school and post-secondary dropouts are also encouraged to return to school and assisted in the process. The majority of services are provided at the students’ middle or high schools within a classroom or workshop setting. Students may also make appointments to meet with Talent Search staff at our UMass Boston campus office after school or during school vacations. The Educational Counselors provide outreach counseling to persons, including those with disabilities; and conduct workshops and training sessions for program participants, their parents, and community agencies.
Early College Academic Success Coach Early College Initiative
The Academic Success Coach works with Early College students, potential and enrolled, using asset-based educational, cultural, and linguistic frameworks, to provide support to students from their initial transition to the program, through graduation. The Academic Success Coach will also provide support to Early College graduates who transition and enroll at UMass Boston, and will ensure high-quality, comprehensive advising sessions through educational approaches that promote equity, transformational practice, and academic literacies to guarantee the successful retention of the students served. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, working with a specific caseload of students to assist them in navigating academic and non-academic issues as well as connecting them to other appropriate resources and services on campus or at their high school. The Academic Success Coach will work closely with the Senior Director of Programs and Partnerships to develop holistic supports and curriculum for participants and evaluate the success of the program towards the goal of continuous improvement.
Staff Psychologist and Coordinator of Clinical Training Health Services
The Staff Psychologist and Coordinator of Clinical Training within University Health Services will provide high-quality, time-effective, evidence-based and culturally responsive clinical services, including: triage; emergency and crisis intervention services; referrals and evaluations; as well as individual and group counseling and psychotherapy. The incumbent will also provide consultation to faculty and staff and provide outreach to the campus community. The incumbent will manage a caseload so as to serve the maximum number of students who are appropriate for services at the University Health Services Counseling Center; and will consult with and/or make timely and appropriate mental health referrals for students as needed. In addition, the Staff Psychologist and Coordinator of Clinical Training will provide leadership for the University Health Services Counseling Center Clinical Practicum and Advanced Clinical Practicum, serving as the liaison between the Counseling Center and the graduate programs in which the trainees are enrolled. The incumbent will guide the process of planning and producing the yearly practicum orientation, assuming primary responsibility for ensuring that trainees and practicum supervisors understand and act in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Counseling Center; will oversee all data collection pertaining to the evaluation of the practicum; and will be responsible for overseeing the application process for the Advanced Clinical Practicum.
Community Service Officer Public Safety
A Community Service Officer (CSO) is an unarmed, uniformed security position, and is a non-sworn (civilian) member of the UMass Boston Police Department (UMBPD). With a strong emphasis on community engagement, CSO’s are responsible for performing a variety of duties to assist the (UMBPD) with its campus safety and community policing efforts. CSO’s assist UMBPD to make connections between students, faculty, staff, and other members of the community. The incumbent of this position enforces university policy, by-laws, the student code of conduct, and performs other non-criminal police related duties such as: community engagement and outreach; patrolling the campus on foot and/or be assigned to a designated post; provides direction, general information, and resources to the public, issuing parking tickets; performing walking escorts; respond to non-criminal complaints, building checks and other duties assigned. CSO’s are essential employees that do not carry firearms and have no powers of arrest.
Communication Dispatcher II Public Safety
The Dispatcher II position is an entry level, uniformed non-sworn, support position for the University Police Department. Under general supervision of the Dispatch Supervisor or the shift commander, the Dispatcher II will perform a variety of specialized support duties the Police Communication Center. Support duties may include: Operating a centralized computer aided dispatch system (CAD) to dispatch non-emergency and 911 calls for service to the campus community. This includes receiving, prioritizing, and transmitting first notification of calls for service for police, fire, and medical assistance from the campus community. The Dispatcher II will operate a fixed radio system, transmitting messages to multiple and portable units under strict rules and regulations. The Dispatcher II communicates via state and national criminal databases and is responsible for effective and accurate communications between campus law enforcement, the public, and external law enforcement agencies. Extensively documents actions and outcomes from all police, fire, and medical incidents occurring on campus into the CAD system; and perform related work as required. Regular use of judgement and discretion is necessary to set priorities, assess the importance of information and react quickly and effectively.
Assistant Professor (Human Rights and Law ) GISD - Dean's Office
The School for Global Inclusion and Social Development (SGISD) in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Massachusetts Boston invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in human rights and law, to begin September 1, 2025. Of particular interest are social science scholars, whose research agenda and practice focuses on the process of improving the terms on which individuals and groups participate in society and realize well-being, with attention to the transformation of social, economic, political, legal, or cultural institutions and structures. We are specifically interested in candidates whose scholarly agenda adds a local US focus within Human Rights and Law, especially in Critical Race Theory and its related branches such as Latinas/os/x Critical Race Theory (LatCrit); Tribal Critical Race Theory (Tribal Crit), complementing the regional expertise of faculty in the School. Preference will be given to candidates who can bridge local and global human rights law and who employ critical quantitative methods.
Director for Center of Academic Excellence Academic Support Programs
Reporting to the Associate Vice-Provost for Inclusive Excellence, the Director of the Center for Academic Excellence oversees, manages and assesses all aspects of the Center for Academic Excellence/Academic Support Programs and serves as a member of the Inclusive Excellence Leadership Team. The Director is responsible for ensuring that the Center for Academic Excellence develop, deliver and evaluate student-centered, holistic, and equitable courses, programs, services, and practices that encourage, promote, and sustain inclusive academic excellence and equitable outcomes for our diverse undergraduate and graduate student body.
Academic & Career Advisor University Advising Center
The primary mission of the Academic and Career Engagement and Success (ACES) Center is to provide holistic, high quality, and culturally responsive academic and career success advising/coaching. Advising/coaching engages students in an intentional process that values students’ strengths and cultural wealth. It advances their personal, academic, and professional goals, expands access to experiential learning opportunities and connects them with resources. The departments’ values promote inclusive excellence through holistic student success and equitable outcomes. The Academic and Career Advisor will be responsible for managing a caseload of advisees on a wide range of academic and career-related topics, including but not limited to degree requirements for progression; major and career exploration and development resources; targeted programming and events; and serving as a liaison to faculty and staff.  Advisors will also plan, implement, and evaluate programs and services to facilitate the development of an academic and professional plan that will enhance the quality of students’ academic experience and career-readiness skills. The incumbent will possess and demonstrate a high level of knowledge and practice of culturally-responsive, equity-minded, and asset-based theories, specifically when working with students from historically (and currently) marginalized identities. The incumbent will also serve as a resource and advocate for students by working alongside them to help them navigate complex internal and external systems, connect and refer them to appropriate university services, and identify policies and procedures that create barriers to equitable outcomes for all students The incumbent will demonstrate strong knowledge of high-impact practices, effective coaching and counseling strategies for holistic student success, and strong programming skills.
Special Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Inclusive Excellence and Belonging Ofc of Diversity & Inclusion
Reporting directly to the Vice Chancellor for Inclusive Excellence and Belonging (VCIE&B), Special Assistant to the VCIE&B provides complex and at times confidential administrative support to the VCIEB. Additionally, this position will develop, coordinate, implement and manage effective and data-informed communication strategies and practices specific to committees, projects and initiatives as assigned by the VCIEB.

Assistant Professor (Inorganic Materials) Chemistry

Athletic Trainer Athletics
The Athletic Trainer will be responsible for providing preventative measures, acute care, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries to intercollegiate student-athletes at UMass Boston. The incumbent will be responsible for providing athletic training services as directed by the Head Athletic Trainer to the University’s 19 NCAA Division III varsity athletic programs who compete in the Little East and New England Hockey Conferences. This includes, but is not limited to, managing potentially catastrophic, acute, and chronic athletic injuries within the scope of practice for athletic training, to include rehabilitation and return-to-play decisions. This position is expected to collaborate with the Head Athletic Trainer, and if necessary, the team physician and/or the strength and conditioning coach. Attendance at scheduled team practices and home and away competitions as assigned by Head Athletic Trainer is required. This position will work cooperatively with student-athletes, coaches, and athletic department staff. The incumbent is also responsible for maintaining the standards for the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA).
Communications Specialist Communications
The Communications Specialist is a member of the university’s central Office of Communications and participates in all activities of the office, including developing and writing news stories for the website and university publications, monitoring media coverage and compiling news clips for circulation, serving as a communications liaison to various colleges and administrative divisions, and working closely with the Web Services team and other departments to assist in the development and implementation of strategies that enhance the public presentation of news and information about the university. The Communications Specialist will also support the university’s social media presence and other efforts to enhance the university’s digital presence.
Major Gifts Officer VC-University Advancement
Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Principal & Leadership Gifts and Director of Comprehensive Campaign, the Major Gifts Officer is primarily responsible for developing managing, implementing, and overseeing strategies for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of approximately 100-125 prospective leadership gift donors. The Major Gifts Officer will create individualized solicitation plans leading to major outright and deferred gifts of $25,000+, integrating unrestricted and restricted gifts, endowment, annual and capital gifts in support of University fund raising priorities. Responsibilities will most significantly include the identification, cultivation and solicitation of new prospects for the University. The Major Gifts Officer will serve as a fundraiser for University-wide targeted initiatives and will work closely with colleagues in University Advancement, Dean’s, faculty and senior administrators in developing and implementing key fund-raising strategies and activities.
