University Police Officer Public Safety
The University Police Officer will perform a full range of law enforcement functions. Pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 253 of the Acts of 2020 (“An Act Relative to Justice, Equity and Accountability in Law Enforcement in the Commonwealth”), the position of: The University Police Officer position is a regulated by the Massachusetts Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST). University Police Officers are appointed as sworn police officers pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws chapter 75, section 32A and chapter 90C which grants University Police Officers the same authority, immunities and privileges as a duly appointed and qualified sworn police officer acting elsewhere in the Commonwealth. Under the general supervision of the University Patrol Sergeant, a University Police Officer patrols assigned areas of property used, owned, or occupied by the University of Massachusetts and areas adjacent to the university to provide a safe and secure environment for all members of the University community by means of an alert and vigilant preventive patrol. Work is performed in accordance with federal, state, and local laws as well as university and departmental policies, procedures, and general orders. Work is reviewed by inspection, through verbal and written reports, and by results achieved. University Police Officer candidates must have successfully completed a Massachusetts Basic Police Training Program from an accredited police academy, approved by the Municipal Police Training Council (MPTC) or have successfully completed training that is substantially equivalent to or greater than that of a Massachusetts police officer at a comparable level of experience to obtain an academy exemption through the MPTC. Contingent upon appointment, the appointee(s) shall be considered probationary through twelve (12) continuous months of service, beginning on the date the appointee(s) report for duty.
Community Service Officer Public Safety
A Community Service Officer (CSO) is an unarmed, uniformed security position, and is a non-sworn (civilian) member of the UMass Boston Police Department (UMBPD). With a strong emphasis on community engagement, CSO’s are responsible for performing a variety of duties to assist the (UMBPD) with its campus safety and community policing efforts. CSO’s assist UMBPD to make connections between students, faculty, staff, and other members of the community. The incumbent of this position enforces university policy, by-laws, the student code of conduct, and performs other non-criminal police related duties such as: community engagement and outreach; patrolling the campus on foot and/or be assigned to a designated post; provides direction, general information, and resources to the public, issuing parking tickets; performing walking escorts; respond to non-criminal complaints, building checks and other duties assigned. CSO’s are essential employees that do not carry firearms and have no powers of arrest.
Post Doctoral Research Fellow Institute Community Inclusion
The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will focus on advancing research related to the employment of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) as part of the Institute for Community Inclusion’s (ICI) Advanced Rehabilitation Research Training (ARRT) Program. This 12-month, 30 hours/week (or 0.75FTE) grant-funded hybrid fellowship is designed to prepare early-career scholars to become leaders in disability employment research, specifically within the IDD field in the United States, with an approximate start date in September 2026. The Fellow will participate in formal instruction on IDD employment research topics and methods and will be assigned an experienced ICI researcher to provide mentorship and guidance alongside other supervisory support. The Fellow will actively contribute to collaborative research opportunities through a Research Practicum involving assigned ICI projects and will develop and implement an independent research project. As part of the fellowship, the Fellow will engage with community organizations serving individuals with IDD and receive training in grant writing, scholarly writing and publishing, professional presentations, and knowledge translation strategies, with specific targets established to track progress. The Fellow is expected to demonstrate the potential to contribute meaningfully to disability employment scholarship, collaborative team research, knowledge translation, and systems change. Additionally, the Fellow will participate in program evaluation and reporting activities.
Research Analyst Institute for Early Education
The Research Analyst(s) is responsible for project implementation working under the direction of the Research and Evaluation team at the Institute for Early Education Leadership and Innovation. Research Analysts’ work focuses heavily on activities related to data collection, analysis, and reporting of findings. Depending on the qualifications of the successful applicant, the position may entail writing duties and some independent project tasks.
Testing Center Coordinator Ross Ctr Disability Services
Reporting to the Associate Director of the Ross Center for Students with Disabilities, the Testing Center (TC) Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of managing a full-service testing center for UMB students with disabilities that require exam accommodations. The TC Coordinator oversees and evaluates all testing activities and coordinates access and support for students using the Ross Center information software system, reviews testing contracts, creates accessible formats of exams, and manages a reservation process for proctoring requests from faculty. The incumbent will develop relationships with faculty, staff, administrators and external partners, and will collaborate with them to offer an array of activities in the testing center in compliance with Federal disability statute that assist with student retention and program development. They will uphold and enforce the University Code of Conduct and will ensure the highest ethical standards of a secure, quiet and safe testing environment.
Service Advisor One Stop Student Serv Ctr
One Stop Service Advisors perform a vital role in assisting and educating students to navigate administrative processes related to financial aid, billing, and registration. They will provide convenient and thorough support and care through a variety of service channels including walk-in, phone, email, live chat and virtual meetings.
Associate Controller Controller's Office
Under the direction of the Director of Fiscal Operations & Controller (“Controller”), the Associate Controller ensures data integrity and accuracy within the University’s financial system, in compliance with state and federal regulations, and produces financial statements that are in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (“GAAP”). Exercises sound judgment within defined accounting procedures and practice to analyze and resolve complex assignments where analysis of data requires review of a variety of factors and sources. Recommend updates to policies and procedures as needed and implement approved changes. Performs all other duties assigned by the Controller.
HR Customer Service and Onboarding Assistant Human Resources
The HR Customer Service and Onboarding Assistant will provide routine administrative duties to support the daily operations of the Department of Human Resources. The incumbent will greet, direct and/or provide assistance to both internal and external customers; receive and direct internal and external phone and e-mail inquiries and when necessary, field inquires to appropriate staff person; receive, sort and distribute mail; prepare selected correspondence; and proofread and type documents. They will run reports and conduct database queries; gather, update and enter information into departmental and/or university databases and systems; and will schedule meetings for departmental directors and managers. The incumbent will be responsible for interacting with a wide variety of staff, faculty and students to provide information and to direct them to the appropriate source for resolution of an issue.
Director of Merit Scholarship Merit Scholarship Office
The Director of Merit Scholarships within the Division of Enrollment Management will oversee all components of merit scholarship programs, including marketing, outreach, selection process, award distribution and fund management for Undergraduate and Graduate students. The incumbent will interact with Vice Chancellors, Deans, Directors and department Chairs to advise, interpret and develop strategies to most effectively utilize scholarship funding; will monitor continued student eligibility and compliance; will advise University Advancement on appropriate scholarship parameters and selection criteria; and will evaluate success of scholarship programs in contributing to enrollment goals.

An employee in this class frequently participates in the work performed by subordinate officers and is responsible for performing related duties as required. The Patrol Sergeant’s primary responsibility is to ensure the effective performance of duty by patrol personnel. Staff Psychologist & Coordinator of Clinical Training Health Services
The Staff Psychologist and Coordinator of Clinical Training within University Health Services will provide high-quality, time-effective, evidence-based and culturally responsive clinical services, including: triage; emergency and crisis intervention services; referrals and evaluations; as well as individual and group counseling and psychotherapy. The incumbent will also provide consultation to faculty and staff and provide outreach to the campus community. The incumbent will manage a caseload so as to serve the maximum number of students who are appropriate for services at the University Health Services Counseling Center; and will consult with and/or make timely and appropriate mental health referrals for students as needed. In addition, the Staff Psychologist and Coordinator of Clinical Training will provide leadership for the University Health Services Counseling Center Clinical Practicum and Advanced Clinical Practicum, serving as the liaison between the Counseling Center and the graduate programs in which the trainees are enrolled. The incumbent will guide the process of planning and producing the yearly practicum orientation, assuming primary responsibility for ensuring that trainees and practicum supervisors understand and act in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Counseling Center; will oversee all data collection pertaining to the evaluation of the practicum; and will be responsible for overseeing the application process for the Advanced Clinical Practicum.
