The Commonwealth Honors College at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (https://www.umass.edu/honors/) invites applicants for a full-time (9-month academic year/MSP Union), non-tenure track lecturer for classroom instruction within the honors curriculum. The honors courses to be taught include an interdisciplinary freshman seminar, “Ideas That Change the World,” which is comprised of units on models of inquiry, social thought, science and technology, and the arts. Other honors courses may include those affiliated with residential academic programs, honors thesis seminar, and others with General Education designations. This person will also perform service in support of the mission and goals of the College. |

The Director of CNS Upper Level Advising will be responsible for the development, functioning, and supervision of the CNS Upper Level Advising Program that supports all CNS majors in their sophomore through senior year and completion. The Director assists students, faculty, advisors, and parents with issues such as transfer orientation, academic programming, and advising relating to progress within a degree program. In consultation with the CNS student success team, the Director develops, implements, promotes and assesses the college-wide strategic plan for academic advising and student success. |

The Chair will provide transformational leadership to advance the department’s mission and vision, emphasizing collaboration, transparency, and excellence. We seek a candidate with experience as a department chair or other relevant academic leadership roles who can contribute to the growth of the department’s programs.
The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a research agenda focused on policies and plans to expand opportunities for our region's economically challenged and historically underinvested communities. The Department is especially interested in candidates whose planning scholarship and practice focuses on resident-led, community-based planning and development initiatives. |
