General Summary:
This position description is a guide to the critical duties and essential functions of the job, not an all-inclusive list of responsibilities, qualifications, physical demands, and work environment conditions. Position descriptions are reviewed and revised to meet the changing needs of the organization.
Perform venipunctures, finger sticks, and other approved specimen collection procedures, process medical laboratory tests and document results for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. Follow all CLIA requirements and regulations. Serve as a back-up for clinical team members as needed.

Education and Experience:
Phlebotomy experience required, minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in a fast-paced outpatient medical office.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
Bachelor’s degree in the health sciences preferred.
Certification and Licensure:
MLT, ASCP, CPT or AMT certification preferred.
CPR certification
UNIQUE PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS, ENVIRONMENT, AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Requires the ability to move PC's and printers weighing up to 20 lbs.
Requires planning, organizing, and working on multiple tasks at one time.
Work Environment: Laboratory and medical office environment, frequent exposure to bodily fluids. Possible exposure to infectious specimens, communicable diseases, and toxic substances. Interaction with members of the health care team and diverse college-aged population.

To accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, each essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to help enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Supervision (30%)
Supervise and delegate tasks to student employees who are functioning as a student lab assistant. Training student lab assistants on how to correctly perform point of care tests and other job-related duties.
Performs other related duties as required.

This is a non-exempt union position.
