Job Description

We are seeking an outstanding candidate to join our faculty in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Massachusetts Boston to begin on September 1, 2024. The candidate will assume a nine-month, tenure-line appointment in the Counseling and School Psychology Department, which houses two APA Accredited Programs in School Psychology and Counseling Psychology, NASP-Approved Masters and Ed.S. Programs in School Psychology, a MPCAC-Accredited Masters Programs in School Counseling and Mental Health Counseling, a graduate certificate program in Applied Behavior Analysis, and a B.A. in Sport Leadership and Administration.

We seek candidates with research foci and research programs in expertise in promoting the academic success and/or social-emotional wellness of minoritized youth. We are especially interested in applicants with expertise in bilingual school psychology (e.g., assessment, intervention) who demonstrate an understanding of the impact of advancing our commitment to racial justice. We are seeking a colleague who understands the impact of systemic and structural racism and other sources of discrimination on mental health; and/or prevention and intervention efforts. Preferred applicants will demonstrate teaching and leadership experience and an interest in collaborative research. Qualifications for the position:

  • A doctorate in School Psychology or related field (e.g., Special Education, Counseling Psychology), preferably from an APA accredited program.
  • Strong potential for pursuing and securing extramural research funding.
  • Licensed or license eligible as a Licensed Psychologist/Health Services Provider in Massachusetts.

This faculty position involves working with both the APA Accredited School Psychology Program and the Master’s program in School Psychology. Teaching assignments will vary depending on the needs of the department but will include teaching two courses in the fall and two courses in the spring. The School Psychology Program prepares professionals in a scientist-practitioner model and has been accredited since 2015. The Department of Counseling and School Psychology provides a dynamic environment for faculty and students to engage in nationally recognized research, especially in areas related to equity issues, systems-level change, LGBTQ+ health and wellness, social justice, transnational, human rights, and global perspectives.
