General Summary: 

The Associate Director of the Center for Collaborative Leadership serves as a member of the Center management team, participating in the management of the Center’s varied programs, projects and research activities. Under the direction of the Center Director, the Associate Director will support the Center for Collaborative Leadership (CCL) by identifying and cultivating key relationships, such as university stakeholders, alumni, and donors, on behalf of the Center. The Associate Director will work with the Director to lead fundraising efforts for the Center, which includes working with major foundations and corporations, as well as alumni to bring in additional monies to support the activities of the Center and ensure its fiscal stability; and will identify, craft and submit grant proposals on behalf of the Center. The Associate Director will also identify and engage new organizational partners for each of the Center’s offerings.

Examples of Duties: 

  • Identify and secure new organizational partners to send fellows, to act as project sponsors and to support the work of the Center; represent the Center to governmental, business and community organizations;
  • Seek and pursue opportunities for external funding, including grants, corporate funding and sponsorships and individuals donations to ensure the fiscal stability of the Center
  • Leverage university resources, such as University Advancement, the Office of Research and Sponsored Projects, and Communications, to advance the goals of the Center.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for individuals and organizations seeking information from the center director, prioritizing these requests, and ensuring outgoing communication is timely and accurate.
  • Engage in communications across a small team and external partners;
  • Nurture fundraising relationships and advance fundraising objectives by representing the Center at events, meetings with partners, and presentations;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

Masters Degree or higher, in Business, Public Administration, Leadership and Organizational Development or a closely related field, and a minimum of three to five years of management experience is required. Demonstrated high degree of initiative and independent judgment with a record of productive professional relationship building is essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior fundraising experience strongly preferred;

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and other data management/ administrative software applications;
  • Ability to prioritize and work under pressure in a deadline oriented environment;
  • Ability to manage small projects independently, as well as part of a team; 
  • Ability to build effective and beneficial relationships with external contacts;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong collaboration, interpersonal, leadership, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong commitment to customer service.

This is an exempt union position. This is one year term position grant funded position with a current end date of November 30, 2023, subject to renewal contingent on funding and university needs.
