The Department of Biology at the University of Massachusetts Boston seeks applicants for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor who studies molecular or cellular biology, to begin September 1, 2022. We will prioritize candidates whose research plan involves laboratory-based research that incorporates bioinformatics and data science approaches. The successful applicant is expected to establish an externally funded research program, direct the research of students at the doctoral, masters, and undergraduate levels, and interact with a dynamic group of molecular, cell, and developmental biologists. The successful candidate’s lab will be located in the modern Integrated Science Complex, which houses core facilities for genomics, imaging, and flow cytometry.
Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent degree and relevant postdoctoral research experience. We will prioritize candidates who have significant expertise in bioinformatics and data science methods and who can develop and deliver courses and workshops on the use of these methods for the analysis of large molecular datasets. We are particularly interested in those whose research will complement our existing strengths in cell, microbial, and developmental biology. Commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels is expected, and the application of innovative pedagogical approaches will be encouraged.
