General Summary: 

The Information Technology Systems  (ITS) Manager will be responsible for the development, coordination and management of all database and technology systems whose purpose is to support the successful functioning of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences (CNHS). The incumbent will manage all computer software and hardware applications, including internet and mobile applications, designated by CNHS administrators. The CNHS ITS manager will be the primary liaison with the Division of Information Technology and its resources. The ITS Manager is expected to 1) sustain information systems results by defining, delivering, and supporting information systems by auditing application of systems; 2) safeguarding assets by planning and implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures and information security and control structures; 3) maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; 4) reviewing professional publications,  5) benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; 6) participating in professional societies; and 7) maintaining safe and healthy working environment by establishing and enforcing organization standards while adhering to legal regulations.

Examples of Duties: 

  • Manage all existing software and hardware used by CNHS to maintain its operations and meet its strategic goals
  • Manage all databases used in or by the College of Nursing and Health Sciences (CNHS)
  • Assess/audit current IT systems, software and hardware, for necessary upgrades, updating or termination
  • Provide trainings on how to use any software or hardware affiliated with CNHS operations as necessary
  • Maintain the CNHS website
  • Maintain communication distribution lists
  • Develop new data management systems to improve college operations as directed
  • Extract data from CNHS ITS systems for reports, or interface with the university’s data management divisions to acquire needed data, and create a report
  • Establish and maintain security protocols to protect confidentiality in accordance with FERPA
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for determining optimal functioning of ITS in CNHS;
  • Collaborate with campus IT on a consistent basis
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree and/or additional certificates through continuing education in Information Technology preferred, and a minimum of three-five (3-5) years of experience in deploying, supporting and/or troubleshooting network issues and providing desktop operating systems support, preferably in higher education, is required. Master’s Degree can account for 2 years of work experience. Knowledge of and experience in web design strongly preferred. 

  • Proficiency in the creation and management of relational databases
  • Proficiency in SQL and HTML
  • Knowledge of basic statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to initiate and be self-directed to improve college technology;
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and successfully handle multiple tasks and demands.
  • Ability to providing hands-on training to staff;
  • Ability to interact with all levels of university and non-university staff, including faculty and students, in a diverse environment;
  • Ability to collaborate with and build collaborative relationships;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong commitment to continuous quality improvement of all college technologies, data capabilities and management and information accuracy;
  • Strong commitment to customer service.
