Assistant Professor (Biochemistry) Biology
The Department of Biology at the University of Massachusetts Boston seeks applicants for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor to pursue a research program that addresses biological questions at the mechanistic, biochemical level. We will prioritize candidates whose research plans emphasize biochemical approaches to molecular and cell biology, developmental biology, or microbial biology. The successful applicant is expected to establish an externally funded research program, direct the research of students at the doctoral, masters, and undergraduate levels, and interact with a our molecular, cell, and developmental biologists, as well as with our ecologists and evolutionary biologist.
Assistant Professor (Physics) Physics
The Department of Physics in the College of Science and Mathematics (CSM) at the University of Massachusetts Boston (UMB) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in computational physics focusing on research at the interface of machine learning and physics, to begin September 1, 2024. We will prioritize candidates whose research in machine learning/physics complements existing strengths in theoretical quantum science and technology and/or experimental biophysics research within the department. Specific research areas of interest include but are not limited to: quantum machine learning, applications of deep learning/deep reinforcement learning to diverse fields ranging from biomedical physics to quantum computing. The successful applicant is expected to establish a robust externally funded research program, direct the research of students at the doctoral, masters, and undergraduate levels, and interact effectively with colleagues within the Physics Department and in Computer Science and other departments across the College of Science and Mathematics. The successful candidate is also expected to develop innovative courses focusing on the physics/machine learning interface. A Ph.D. in Physics or related fields is required.
Professor (Coastal Resilience) SFE - Dean's Office
The School for the Environment is seeking an outstanding individual at the Full Professor level to become the Distinguished Professor of Coastal Resilience with a specific expertise in nature-based approaches, to begin September 1, 2024. We seek a climate change adaptation expert who can interact with colleagues who emphasize the biological, geological, engineering, socio-economic, and planning impacts of climate change with an emphasis in coastal urban systems. This Distinguished Professor will analyze and/or model the effects of storms, sea-level rise, and warming oceans on macrotidal Northeastern estuaries (developed and undeveloped) and coastal oceans and take on a leadership role in The Stone Living Lab (stonelivinglab.org).

Assistant Professor- (Urban Planning & Community Development) Urban Planning&Community Dev
The Department of Urban Planning and Community Development at the University of Massachusetts Boston seeks to hire a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor to serve as the lead scholar for its newly created urban transportation planning and policy-making concentration. Successful candidates must have an earned doctorate in urban planning (a professional planning degree is also preferred), a history of external research funding activity, a strong publication record in leading transportation and related planning journals, a well-thought out teaching strategy and exceptional teaching evaluations if experienced), and a record of successful collaboration with public transportation agencies, commuter organizations, and alternative transportation groups (i.e. bicyclists and pedestrians) on important transportation policy issues.

Visiting Assistant Professor Counseling & School Psychology
The Department of Counseling and School Psychology in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Massachusetts Boston seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor in Mental Health Counseling beginning September 1, 2022. Position is for one year, with potential for a second year, contingent upon performance and funding. Applicants will contribute to both online and in person M.S. degree programs in Mental Health Counseling. Responsibilities: The individual in this position would teach courses primarily online in the M.S. in Mental Health Counseling program as well as teach in person. The individual would contribute clinical expertise and teach internship seminar courses as well as other content-based courses in the M.S. in Mental Health Counseling program. Requirements: Doctorate or master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, Counselor Education, or a related field with 3 years post-graduation experience. Licensure in Massachusetts or eligibility for licensure. Teaching experience. Strong preference will be given to candidates who have a doctorate in Counseling Psychology, Counselor Education, or related field though applicants with a master’s degree and significant clinical and supervisory experience will also be considered.
