Position: Assistant Athletic Performance Coach (internship)

Reports to: Director of Athletic Performance/Head Strength & Conditioning Coach

Duration: Two-year appointment. Starting August 1, 2023 to May 30, 2024 and August 1, 2023 to May 30, 2025.

Salary: $47,000, no benefits

 

Scope of the position:

The Assistant Athletic Performance Coach will report to the Director of Athletic Performance and be assigned 6-7 varsity teams. This position will be responsible of upholding the mission, core values, and standards of the Dan Rea ‘70 Boston State College Varsity Training Facility, as well as abide by the Division III and Little East Conference regulations. This person will assist the Director of Athletic Performance and work closely with the Sports Medicine Department.

Duties:

  • Develop and implement strength and conditioning programs for 6-7 varsity teams
  • Supervise, coach proper lifting/running technique, provide a safe environment for all student-athletes
  •  Programming should be based on scientific and evidence-based research. Final programs will be reviewed by the Director of Athletic Performance
  • Understand the needs of the sport and individual student-athlete based on the following: off-season, pre-season, in-season, training-age, individual limitations, transition periods
  • Motivate, inspire, and mentor student-athletes
  • Provide general weight room supervision, maintenance and any other duties assigned by Director of Athletic Performance
  • Mentor interns / intern education curriculum / staff development assignments
  • Schedule make up lifts for student-athletes 

Percentage of time commitment for each major area of job responsibility

Coaching: 80%

Programming: 10%

Miscellaneous (weight room supervision, intern development, education, etc.): 10%
