General Summary: 

Shoots high quality digital images and video footage, as requested, to meet the University's needs for marketing, web and news coverage. Works with the Creative Services and Marketing staff to bring initiatives and creative items from conception to completion.
Ensures that the University has a large, high-quality photo and video library that reflects the University’s visual identity.

Examples of Duties: 

  • Photographs and edits high quality digital images and video footage, as requested, to meet the University’s needs for marketing, web, social media and news coverage.
  • Works with Creative Services, Marketing, and Web team to bring initiatives and creative items from conception to completion.
  • Serves as a main resource for an online photo and video database and may work with student employees to ensure correct classifications and image details.
  • Continually updates and maintains a digital asset management system of University photography and video files of campus locations, events, buildings, faculty, staff and students.
  • In collaboration with Creative Services develops a recognizable University photographic style to become an element in the University’s visual identity.
  • Budgets time and office resources to ensure photographic work is done efficiently and in a way that reflects University priorities.
  • Capture and reproduce photographic images representing the full range of activities occurring on campus, utilizing creative and artistic skill.
  • Responsible for taking staff and faculty headshots for web and publications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 3+ years experience
  • Proficient in using Adobe photoshop, Lightroom and other photo and video editing software
  • Experience using DAM software
  • Broad knowledge of lighting, photographic processes, methods and new technology
  • Strong portfolio showing a broad range of work
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including capacity to respond to criticism, problem solving, and good judgment;
  • The incumbent may be required to work occasional evenings and/or weekends, and on occasion be on-call during non-business hours.
