Assistant Director of Athletics & Sports Communication Athletics
The Assistant Director of Athletics for Sports Communication provides leadership in the areas of athletic communications, as well as media and public relations for UMass Boston athletics and the nineteen (19) National Athletic Collegiate Association (NCAA) Division III intercollegiate programs. The incumbent is responsible for the overall supervision, organization and management of the Sports Information Office and public relations functions of the department including the development, coordination, and implementation of effective communication strategies and initiatives that create recognition of the achievements, programs, teams and participants. The Assistant Director of Athletics for Sports Communication will serve as the main representative to all visiting game day officials, opponents, and any outside media outlets that may come to campus; and will also serve as the main contact for all communications game day employees and the primary contact for officials and any outside parties.
Admissions Counselor Undergraduate Admissions
The Admissions Counselor is responsible for developing and/or implementing traditional recruitment activities to attract students to the University. The incumbent will manage an assigned geo-territory, create a travel plan for recruitment and will represent the University at high school and college fairs; and will develop and maintain relationships with personnel at assigned high schools. The Admissions Counselor will also conduct interviews and provide enrollment counseling for prospective students; will review applications and render admission decisions for freshman and transfer applicants; and will also serve as a liaison to various on-and off-campus constituents. This position may be eligible for a hybrid model, with a combination of on-campus and remote work, depending on department business needs.
Sr Director of Finance & Operations VC-University Advancement
The Senior Director of Finance and Operations will play a pivotal role in the Finance/Advancement Services area within University Advancement. The Sr. Director of Finance and Operations will oversee the management of financial functions relating to gift reporting, endowments, procurement of goods and services and operations. The Sr. Director of Finance and Operations will work on special projects assigned by the Vice Chancellor and senior leadership team. The Sr. Director of Finance and Operations will report to the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Finance and Operations.
Executive Assistant to the Vice Chancellor - (Administration & Finance) VC-Administration & Finance
The Executive Assistant will provide high-level administrative support to the Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance to further grow a transformative collegiate environment supported by an effective Administration and Finance Division.  The incumbent will perform complex, varied and confidential administrative, financial, and communication functions supporting the Vice Chancellor’s strategic priorities and to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of day-to-day operations and communications of the division.  The incumbent will serve as a liaison to the VCAF for all high-level internal and external constituencies and will assist in the collaboration with key functional areas of the university.
Labor Relations Manager Human Resources
Reporting to the Executive Director of Labor Relations, the Labor Relations Manager will have primary duties that include the resolution of grievances pertaining to collective bargaining agreements, employee concerns and potential disciplinary matters. The incumbent will administer human resources policies and procedures; and will provide support and guidance to managers and employees when employee discipline may be warranted. This position will participate in collective bargaining and impact bargaining with University Unions; and will provide guidance in the interpretation of collective bargaining agreements and University policies and procedures. The position will be the first point of contact for various departments on labor relations issues.
Assistant Director for International Admissions Undergraduate Admissions
The Assistant Director for International Admissions will be responsible for the development and/or implementation of domestic and international recruitment activities and strategies to attract new students to the university, with a focus on international students. The Assistant Director will monitor international prospects and applications and implement strategies to convert them in the admissions funnel; will utilize yield strategies to increase enrollment of international first-year and transfer students; and will review applications and render admission decisions for international and domestic applicants. The Assistant Director will be assigned additional responsibilities such as serving as a liaison to one of the undergraduate colleges and/or managing one of the university’s international partnerships. The incumbent will also provide career and enrollment counseling; will conduct interviews and information sessions; and assist with on-campus and both domestic and international off-campus recruitment activities. Special projects to be determined based on incumbent’s professional interests and business needs.
Associate Controller for Procurement & Contracts Controller's Office
Under the regular direction of the Director of Fiscal Operations & Controller, and the ad hoc direction of the Associate Vice-Chancellor for Administration & Finance, the Associate Controller for Procurement & Contracts will provide support for campus procurement (and disposal) of goods and services, development of revenue contracts, administration of business expenses, and overall university contract management and compliance with terms and conditions through coordination of l activities, training, policies and processes between the UMB Controller’s Office and campus departments and campus partners such as the Unified Procurement Services Team (UPST), Office of General Counsel (OGC), University of Massachusetts Building Authority (UMBA), and Employee Services Team of the UMASS President’s Office (UMPO).
University Police Officer Public Safety
The University Police Officer will perform a full range of law enforcement functions. Pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 253 of the Acts of 2020 (“An Act Relative to Justice, Equity and Accountability in Law Enforcement in the Commonwealth”), the position of: The University Police Officer position is a regulated by the Massachusetts Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST). University Police Officers are appointed as sworn police officers pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws chapter 75, section 32A and chapter 90C which grants University Police Officers the same authority, immunities and privileges as a duly appointed and qualified sworn police officer acting elsewhere in the Commonwealth. Under the general supervision of the University Patrol Sergeant, a University Police Officer patrols assigned areas of property used, owned, or occupied by the University of Massachusetts and areas adjacent to the university to provide a safe and secure environment for all members of the University community by means of an alert and vigilant preventive patrol. Work is performed in accordance with federal, state, and local laws as well as university and departmental policies, procedures, and general orders. Work is reviewed by inspection, through verbal and written reports, and by results achieved. University Police Officer candidates must have successfully completed a Massachusetts Basic Police Training Program from an accredited police academy, approved by the Municipal Police Training Council (MPTC) or have successfully completed training that is substantially equivalent to or greater than that of a Massachusetts police officer at a comparable level of experience to obtain an academy exemption through the MPTC. Contingent upon appointment, the appointee(s) shall be considered probationary through twelve (12) continuous months of service, beginning on the date the appointee(s) report for duty.

An employee in this class frequently participates in the work performed by subordinate officers and is responsible for performing related duties as required. The Patrol Sergeant’s primary responsibility is to ensure the effective performance of duty by patrol personnel. Patrol Sergeants work independently in performing regularly assigned duties and assumes complete charge in the event of the absence of a superior officer. Work is performed in accordance with federal, state, and local laws as well as university and departmental policies, procedures, and general orders. Work is reviewed by inspection, through verbal and written reports, and by results achieved.
Communications Dispatcher III Public Safety
The Dispatcher Level III oversees and monitors the work performed by Dispatcher Level I’s. Incumbents in this position establish staffing schedules, coordinate and conduct employee trainings and oversees and ensures compliance with university policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the Federal Communications Commission. Incumbents also receives, reviews and transmits messages over a state and federal computer network, a fixed radio broadcast system, a police records management system and telephone, all under the rules and regulations of the Federal Communications Commission. Employees in this class operate radio transmitting and receiving equipment; maintain records and logs of messages; search files to obtain information; coordinate radio communications; and perform related work as required.
Director of Finance Grants & Operations Gerontology Institute

Research Assistant (Psychology) Psychology
The Research Assistant will join the UMass Boston team of an Institute of Education Sciences-funded, Initial Efficacy study, which is a two-site study located at UMass Boston and the University of California Riverside. The study’s goals including implementing an autism-focused professional development program for early elementary, general education teachers and evaluating the program’s efficacy in a randomized controlled trial design. This professional development program, called Smooth Sailing, was designed with close consultation from teachers and autistic consultants, provides neurodiversity-affirming information about autism, and equips teachers with strategies for fostering strong student-teacher relationships with their young autistic students.
Staff Assistant/Lab and Environmental Specialist Environmental Health & Safety
The OEHS Lab and Environmental Specialist within the Office of Environmental Health and Safety (OEHS) is responsible for supporting the radiation, laser chemical and biological safety programs, as well as the environmental management system, including permit support and data input into the inventory control system for chemical, radiological and biological materials.
Research Assistant (Psychology) Psychology
The Research Assistant, within the Psychology Department, will be responsible for assisting with the administration of two research studies. The first examines the effectiveness of treatments for toddlers with social communication delays and early signs of autism spectrum disorder. The Research Assistant will participate in multiple phases of the study, including screening and longitudinal assessment of children and families. The Research Assistant will also be involved in the clinical implementation of developmental and diagnostic visits, facilitate home visits that involve delivering digital technology for data acquisition, and as well as assisting in data preparation and analysis, and contributing to national and international meeting presentations and manuscript preparation. The Research Assistant may also coordinate meetings with early intervention providers and Directors of Early Intervention programs in the Greater Boston area, assist with data collection from early intervention providers; review and score recorded intervention sessions for intervention fidelity and code recorded parent-child interactions for parent responsivity, manage and administer participant incentives, and manage Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions. Finally, the research assistant may oversee and monitor the workflow of a team of undergraduate students. The second project is a follow-up of children who participated in a randomized clinical trial of family navigation or who were diagnosed with autism after they were three years old. Responsibilities will include consenting and interviewing parents about their children and family life, and both in-person and remote assessments of children, delivering technology to homes, coordinating undergraduate students who will assist with interviews and delivery of technology. All children involved in this study will be 6- to 11-years old.
Major Gifts Officer VC-University Advancement
Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Principal and Leadership Gifts, the Major Gifts Officer is primarily responsible for developing managing, implementing, and overseeing strategies for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of approximately 100-125 prospective leadership gift donors. The Major Gifts Officer will create individualized solicitation plans leading to major outright and deferred gifts of $25,000+, integrating unrestricted and restricted gifts, endowment, annual and capital gifts in support of University fund raising priorities. Responsibilities will most significantly include the identification, cultivation and solicitation of new prospects for the University. The Major Gifts Officer will serve as a fundraiser for University-wide targeted initiatives and will work closely with colleagues in University Advancement, Dean’s, faculty and senior administrators in developing and implementing key fund raising strategies and activities.
Service Advisor One Stop Student Serv Ctr
One Stop Service Advisors perform a vital role in assisting and educating students to navigate administrative processes related to financial aid, billing, and registration. They will provide convenient and thorough support and care through a variety of service channels including walk-in, phone, email, live chat and virtual meetings. They will be available to teach students how to access and use technology for self-service and will provide basic advising and information on university programs, requirements, academic policies, and student rights and responsibilities
Research Assistant Ctr for Social Devel & Ed
The Research Assistant (RA) for the Center for Social Development and Education (CSDE) will provide project coordination and research support for exciting and dynamic research and program evaluation related to youth with intellectual disabilities. The RA will work with a team of researchers on projects focusing on school belonging, attitudes and perceptions of disability, social inclusion of students with disabilities in schools, and social identity development in children and adolescents. Under the supervision of the Project Director, and as part of the larger research and evaluation team, the RA will oversee and coordinate the daily operations of one or more projects and assist in study design and data collection. The RA will also be expected to help prepare written reports, conference presentations, and journal articles summarizing study findings. The Early Childhood Lead Coach will be responsible for the delivery of coaching services as part of the leadership coaching team at the Institute for Early Education Leadership and Innovation and its grant funded projects with the MA Department of Early Education and Care.
