General Summary: 

The Behavioral health Integrated Resources for Children Center (BIRCh Center) within the College of education and Human development (CEHD) at the University of Massachusetts Boston seeks a Project Director.  The BIRCh Center is a recently funded state-wide center aiming to provide professional development and resources for schools and to strengthen the coordination of behavioral health supports across school and community agencies. The successful candidate would join a department whose mission is to promote social justice in diverse communities.

Examples of Duties: 

  • Develop and facilitate partnerships with community-based mental/behavioral health providers;  
  • Disseminate resources and materials to school districts and stakeholders;
  • Supervise graduate assistants; 
  • Manage day-to-day operational functions of the project;
  • Coordinate an annual school mental health institute;
  • Prepare status reports and data reports for stakeholders;
  • Contribute service to the university‚Äôs urban mission, to university and departmental committees, and to professional associations.


Candidates must be licensed/certified school mental health professionals and possess an earned doctorate in School Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or related field. Experience in training and organizational consultation and in supporting racially and ethnically diverse individuals in schools, home and/or agency contexts required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Massachusetts Licensure as a Psychologist, Health Services Provider (HSP). 
  • Skills necessary for large-scale project management (e.g., writing competency, professional disposition, organizational skills, communication skills, ability to effectively delegate tasks).
